On September 15, 2009,  in the San Diego County city of Ramona, a motorcyclist was killed when an unlicensed driver made a U-turn in front of his motorcylce, causing a fatal traffic collision. Officer Brian Pennings of the California Highway Patrol reported on the incident.

The motorcycle accident happened just about 5 p.m.  in front of the Olive Pierce Middle School.  The unlicensed driver was a 28-year-old woman in a 2007 Dodge Caliber who had been driving on Hansom Lane westbound, and made a U-turn without seeing the 1993 Honda motorcycle approaching on the westbound side of the street. She cut into the path of the motorcyclist, causing the rider to hit the side of the Dodge. He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the site.

The motorcyclist was identified as Mark Taylor, 46, of Ramona. The woman, who did not have a license, had been driving a rental car. The CHP are still investigating the details of the situation.
