A 38-year old Deltona corrections officer lost his life in a tragic Florida motorcycle accident that happened around 12:31 a.m. on April 2, 2010 at the intersection of County Road 419 (Chuluota Road) and Cypress Lake Glen Boulevard.
The deceased officer, Jason Clay Russo, was on his way back home when his 2003 Honda motorcycle collided with a vehicle that cut right into his path. Reportedly, the driver of the vehicle, Okevin Moradian, was drunk and had tried to turn left to go east on Cypress Lake Glen Boulevard when he crossed Russo’s path and struck the front of his motorcycle. Moradian has been charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
Our office offers our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the friends and family of Officer Russo. It is often said that riding a motorcycle is very dangerous. Unfortunately much of the danger comes from the negligent behavior of other drivers. This danger only increases with the gross negligence of someone driving under the influence of alcohol.
